PESHAWAR, October 4: Eight more polio cases have been reported in Pakistan, breaking the 14-year record of polio cases in the country.

According to the National Institute of Health, one case each has been reported from Peshawar, Mardan, Tank, Nowshera, North and South Waziristan agencies, Karachi and Quetta.

With the fresh cases, the number of polio-affected children has reached 202 in the country this year, which is a record number in the whole world. Previously, 199 polio cases reported in Pakistan in the year 2000 was a world record.
