DERA ISMAIL KHAN, 15 November: The relatives of the alleged culprits arrested over involvement in the Garamat incident in Dera Ismail Khan have alleged that first a woman of their family was manhandled and the police had refused to file a report of the incident.
The Garamat incident in which a girl was paraded naked in the streets of Dera Ismail Khan has shocked the whole country and different sections of the society are demanding probe into the matter. However, the family members of the main accused of the incident said at a press conference on Tuesday that they were also manhandled by the family of victim girl Sharifa Bibi. Matu Mai alleged that the uncle of Sharifa Bibi tore her clothes, but police did not file a report of the incident.
Ismail, uncle of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Revenue Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, said he had no link with the accused in the case.
“I have no link with the culprits and I don’t know who they are. These people have come to me with a complaint that no one is helping them and instead everyone is doing politics over the issue,” he said.
