PESHAWAR: While rejecting FCR law and implementation of ‘Riwaj Act’ in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), the tribal women jirga on Saturday demanded immediate merger of FATA with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
Tribal women hold jirga at Bacha Khan Markaz to discuss future status of FATA. Women from all tribal agencies of FATA participated in the Jirga.
Addressing on the occasion Awami National Party (ANP) leader Bushra Gohar said that FATA people had tendered matchless sacrifices for peace and stability in the country. She said that for decades FATA people faced difficulties for the country.
The Jirga participants demanded of the government to take solid steps to minimize FATA residents’ miseries and resolve problems of the tribal regions.
FATA women also expressed reservations over FATA Reforms Committee and demanded abolishment of FCR and Riwaj Act to provide security to FATA women. They said that the no women member was included in the FATA Reforms Committee which is discriminate treatment with FATA women. They demanded immediate abolishment of FCR law.
The Jirga participants demanded of the federal government to merge FATA with KP and give FATA women representation in the provincial assembly.
