PESHAWAR, 22 November: Work has been started to clear the road which got closed after a heavy land sliding in Pona village of Abbotabad district and heavy machinery has been dispatched to the area, a spokesman of the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) said in a statement issued here Sunday.

He also disputed the news appeared in a section of press that a lake was formed in the stream due to the debris of the mountain.

He further said that the local population had been evacuated to safer places and the local administration arranged tents, blankets and food for them.

Earlier, the mountain developed cracks and a large part of it eroded and fell on the road as a result blocking road link between a number of small villages including Pona with Abbotabad.
