JAMRUD: Dozens of political workers staged a protest outside the Jamrud press club on Thursday against Al-Haj Karwan for not inviting them to Kalam visit arranged by the newly elected Member Provincial Assembly.
The protestors complained that before the July 20 election, Al-Hajj Karawan, who has now joined Balochistan Awami Party (BAP), has promised their workers in Koki Khel that if they won the election; the party will arrange a grant tour for all of its workers to Kalam, a famous tourists spot of the province.
However, the protesters said, they were totally ignored and people from Peshawar and other areas were invited to the visit, who had no role in running election campaign of the Al-Haj party’s members provincial assembly.
While addressing the gathering, the protestors said they were asked to get ready for the visit to Kalam, however, when the time came, they were not given any importance, which the protestors believe is an insult of the people of Koki Khel tribe.
They said that people from Afghanistan, Peshawar and Zakha Khel tribal people were invited to join the newly-elected MPAs on Kalam Tour. The protestors added that they have also visited hujra of Alhaj Shahji Gul but there was no one present with whom they could lodge a complaint against the attitude of BAP leaders.
It is pertinent to mention here that before the election instead of promising uplift projects and providing basic facilities of life to the people of the tribal area, the Al-Haj Karawan candidates had promised the workers of Jamrud and Landi Kotal a visit for Kalam.
In this connection, Alhaj Karawan has visited six thousand people to Kalam a few days back to fulfil his promise. For this purpose, they have booked 50 hotels in Kalam. The visitor’s rally was comprised of several hundred cars to celebrate the win of their political leaders.
