CHITRAL, 27 December: The Sarhad Rural Support Programme (SRSP), a non-governmental organisation (NGO), organised a workshop in Chitral on Monday to create awareness about platforms available for resolving minor disputes on local level.

Local notables including Shahzada Iqtidarul Mulk, Rehmat Ayubi and Maulana Masood Ahmed said on the occasion that Police Act empowers the provincial police chief to set up dispute resolution councils for resolution of minor disputes. They said each committee has 21 members, including policemen and local elders.

The elders said the citizens have enough awareness about these committees and go to police stations and courts even in case of very minor issues. They advised the citizens to resolve their local level problems through the dispute resolution councils and create awareness among other people about its significance.
