PESHAWAR, June 20: The World Refugee Day is being celebrated in Pakistan and all over the world today (20 June), with an aim to provide support and assistance to the refugees displaced from their native countries.
Like other parts of the world, various unions and organisations arrange ceremonies and seminars in connection with the day in Pakistan. People are encouraged to assist the people displaced from their native regions.
The situation of Afghan refugees and people displaced from North Waziristan tribal region due to a military operation also needs to be taken into consideration on this day.
According to a report, approximately 45 million people are refugees due to different reasons and living in camps or some other places where they face problems of food, health, accommodation and other basic amenities of life.
