PESHAWAR, 21 November: Janan won the Kishwar Sultan Award in Pashto singing while Shahid Ali Khan won the Inayat Ali Sultani Award in Hindko singing in the “Ya Qurban” competition which held at the Nishter Hall here on Saturday. Ya Qurban is a talent hunt program started by the provincial cultural department across the province on divisional level to bring new talent in fold singing to the surface.
Both the candidates were also given Rs.100,000/- each for their first position among their respective categories.
According to a press release of the cultural department as many as 102 individuals registered for the Pashto competitions while 38 registered their names for the Hindko contest. People from different walks of life attended the event and capacious Nishter Hall was full to its capacity.
Muhammad Ishaq won the second position in Pashto singing whereas Liaqat Ali stood third among the participants. Both the winners were given cash prized of Rs. 75,000/- and Rs.50,000/- respectively.
Similarly, Adnan got second and Ghulam Abbas got third position in the Hindko singing competition. They were also given cash prized of Rs. 75,000/- and Rs.50,000/- respectively.
The Ya Qurban competition will be held in all the seven divisions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa which will be followed by a grand finale at the provincial level. The grand finale among the winners of divisional level competitions would be held at Nishtar Hall, on December 10 and the winner will be given Ustad Ahmad Khan Award.
