PESHAWAR, 18 July: Following his maiden 10-wicket haul in the Lord’s Test, Pakistani legspinner Yasir Shah has moved to No.1 place in the ICC Test rankings.

Shah has become the first leg spinner to grab the top slot since 2005 after Australian great Shane Warne. Also, he has become the first Pakistani legspinner after the present spin bowling coach Mushtaq Ahmad, who topped the ladder back in 2006.

Yasir Shah was ranked No. 4 before the start of the England tour, but his outstanding match winning performance push him up three steps.

He took 6 for 72 in the first inning and 4 for 69 in the second to become the first legspinner to take 10-wicket haul at Lord’s. This was Yasir’s first Test outside the subcontinent since he started his career in October 2014.

According to ICC statistics, Yasir Shah is at the top of the ladder with 878 points. He is followed by Indian offspinner Ashwin and English fast bowler James Anderson. There is no other Pakistani bowler in the top ten.

In batting, middle order batsman Asad Shafiq has moved two steps up and is on No.11 position. Captain Misbahul Haq is at No.9 while ace batsman Younas Khan is at No.6.
