TIMERGARAH, 16 November: A three-day youth and children festival jointly organized by the district administration and other private organizations began here the other day.

District Nazim Haji Muhammad Rasool inaugurated the festival. Different competitions of Hamd-o-Na’at, national songs, qawali, tug of war and other events were held among the students of different schools.

School children also presented traditional folk dances on the occasion. Apart from this, Mirawas, one of the most popular entertainers of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, also performed on the stage and entertain and amuse the audience.

To promote local culture, stalls of traditional garments, caps, ancient war weapons and food were also set up for the visitors. People of different age groups thronged the festival took keen interests in the stalls.

District Nazim Haji Rasool Jan told TNN about the festival that it was organized to engage our youth and children in healthy activities and provide them entertainment opportunities.

He added that organizing the event was in fact marking and celebrating the revival of peace in the area.

Additional deputy commissioner Irshad Khan said the district administration would continue organizing such events on regular basis in future and resources would be utilized to provide healthy entertainment to the younger generation.
