LAKKI MARWAT, 20 October: The Zakat and Ushr Department on Wednesday distributed cheques of financial assistance under the ‘Guzara’ allowance and dowry scheme among the over 200 deserving people in Lakki Marwat.

Deputy Commissioner Bakhtiar said at the cheques distribution ceremony that Zakat is a very important responsibility in Islam and its distribution requires extreme caution and honesty. He said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is making efforts for extending maximum help to the destitute women, students and unemployed youth.

District Zakat Chairman Maulana Asadullah said funds have been provided to hospitals for free of cost treatment of deserving people. He said the Zakat Department is also sponsoring computer and technical training programmes for the youth in different institutions.

Those who received cheques of financial assistance thanked the government for helping them in the hour of need.

“I am very thankful to the Zakat chairman for giving me Rs20,000 under dowry allowance. I was very perturbed for arranging marriage of my daughter, but now I have something to buy dowry for her,” a woman who received the cheque told TNN.

A disabled person who received the cheque also thanked the government and said he will buy daily use items for his home with this money.

The deputy commissioner appealed to the well off people to establish their own charities to help the widows, unemployed youth and other needy people.
